Morning All! A double dose of me this week due to the changing closing dates at Telegraph Towers. This was the usual fun puzzle from Cephas. Looking back on it there were an awful lot of charades but I never mind them from Cephas.

In Toughie 777 Notabilis gives us a puzzle in which all of the across answers are related to the number seven – did you get them all? I make it 16 answers covering 13 sets of seven, with another sprinkled in one of the clues for good measure. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe what is, for me, by far and away the best Toughie of the year.

A glance at the Quickie, and the regal reference in 3d, confirms that we have a Ray T to tackle today. Maybe I was expecting a bit more by way of penny-drop and tee-hee moments, but I found it more workmanlike and stolid that some of Ray T’s recent offerings. Continue reading “DT 26874”

Morning All!. This is the review for the ST 2639 from the 13th May. One thing about putting the entry closing date back is that you forget how you felt about the puzzle on the day. I had a fun time refreshing my memory on this excellent puzzle.

As Toughies go this was at the easier end of the difficulty spectrum but I found it very enjoyable with a number of LOL clues.

Hola from the Vega Baja. Yet another fine puzzle from the Wednesday Wizard! It might have been only 1* but for the five long anagrams which I’m always slow at unravelling. Still, they do give a lot of checkers! If you’re a fan of anagrams (unlike me) I guess the puzzle would be 4* enjoyment.
