Thanks for your patience during the severe performance problems encountered this week.  This was due, in part, to the phenomenal success of the blog.  Some features, like the big red box that pops up on prize puzzles, have had to be dropped because they were using excessive resources, even when not actively being displayed.  Among others that have been dropped, the calendar widget can now be seen only on the calendar and Google search pages.  BD


As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, an assortment of clues, including some of the more difficult ones, have been selected and hints provided for them.

Hola from the Vega Baja on a bright but chilly morning.  Those of you who like anagrams will be well pleased with this puzzle as there are four fifteen letter ones around the outside of the grid. If you solve those first, as I did, they’ll make the rest of the puzzle fairly straightforward.

Another splendid Sunday puzzle – even though Kath’s away, I think I’ll pick just one favourite and go for 10a because it increased my general knowledge, or should I choose 7d because it reminds me of my dad who could apparently never find a school cap that fitted… or …. decisions, decisions!
