We have got to the end of what has been a busy time for us. The last of our visitors has been delivered to the railway station. “The Book” has been successfully launched. Things are really hotting up towards Christmas for us. We have two Bridge Club functions, a great nephew’s christening. a book launch and friends coming to stay, all within this next week. A busy time but enough still available to appreciate and enjoy this offering from Jay.

Radio New Zealand told us a couple of days ago that summer has officially started. Doesn’t really feel like it yet as we have had more than our share of cold windy days lately. Today however is calm, clear and warmish so we can feel optimistic of more to come.
Jay has served up another of his tasty delights today, slightly in the gentler range.

One Kiwi has been away for a few days staying with a group of friends on Matiu/Somes Island in the middle of Wellington harbour. (Google it). She saw many other birds but had to hurry home this morning by ferry, train and car to do the blog.
Jay has given us a few words that took a bit of pondering but the puzzle is generally quite gentle.

A rather gentle one from Jay this week we thought. A good range of clue types but we would not expect too many horses to be frightened.

We had a great time at Wairakei Resort last weekend. The weather was outstandingly perfect so we were able to do all the things we had planned. Hot-pool bathing, walking, seeing the sights including the magnificent Huka Falls, 9 holes of golf, eating far too much and hanging out with family. What more could we ask for?

In a couple of days we are off for a family gathering at the Wairakei Resort Hotel which is just north of Lake Taupo. It is in the geothermal region with lots of things to see and do. Should be fun and we are really looking forward to it.

We had a beautiful fine Spring morning for our walk earlier but now, as it often does at this time of the year, a wind has built up and the sky is grey. Just the weather for solving and blogging crosswords.

We thought this puzzle from Jay was a lot of fun so have upped the enjoyment rating. It took us about average time to solve and parse so *** for difficulty.
Last week we mentioned asparagus in our intro. There were lots of comments but nobody mentioned green pees (not a typo!). Congratulations on being so restrained.
Today, in the Dominion-Post from Wellington, the first puzzle we blogged, 27603, has appeared. We wonder if this will prompt Kiwi lurkers to make a comment.

One of the things that we really look forward to in the Spring is eating the first asparagus of the season. We have a huge bunch sitting in the fridge ready for tonight’s dinner. YUM.
