Today’s puzzle by Giovanni is very entertaining and, in my view, a bit less difficult than we have come to expect from him. I was torn between giving it two or three stars for difficulty – what do you think?

Those who actually buy the paper are probably fed up with hearing moans about CluedUp (or whatever it’s called now) but here goes again. Their usual way of signalling that an answer extends over more than one clue is not very good (as in 1a yesterday) but at least there’s usually some indication. Today 1a appears to require just a straight 9-letter answer – I spent ages looking at in vain, left it, only to find at 25a that a second word is required.
This is a typical Giovanni puzzle. Let us know what you thought of it in a comment!
The answers, if you find the hints inadequate, are hidden between the brackets under the clues – just highlight the space between the brackets to reveal.

When I logged on to CluedUp this morning I thought that we weren’t going to have a puzzle today as the home page was still pointing at yesterday’s. But I eventually found today’s, disguised as number 26. It’s a typical Giovanni, with one nod towards today’s date. Let us know your thoughts about it in a comment.
If you’re still stuck for an answer after reading the hint just highlight the space between the brackets under the relevant clue.

We have a typical Giovanni puzzle today with a mixture of clues of varying difficulty, including a number of easy ones to help you get started. The grid does contain a number of double unches which may bother some people, but I can’t see that they cause any great problems. Let us know, in a comment, what you thought of it.
To reveal an answer drag your cursor through the space between the curly brackets on the line under the clue.

I thought that this was a really entertaining Giovanni puzzle with a number of excellent clues, although, as is usual with Giovanni, there are also quite a few easy ones to get you started. Unusually there appear to be no religious references at all. Your views, in a comment, are most welcome.
To see an answer highlight the space between the brackets under the relevant clue.

Gazza is still recovering from the name check he received in yesterday’s puzzle!
Typical Friday Fare, with the usual faultless wordplay (as long as you are prepared to forgive the homophone in 24a) – although I’m sure that a few of you will have tripped over on the answer to 15a.

I was somewhat perturbed this morning to find that CluedUp thinks that today’s puzzle is number 26, until I had confirmation that it is the same one that appears in the paper with the correct number. It’s trickier than Giovanni’s puzzle last week and I found it quite entertaining (especially since the rival attraction of watching the Ryder Cup has been temporarily suspended by the Welsh rain). Let us know your thoughts in a comment.
To prevent your seeing the answers by accident they are hidden between the brackets under the relevant clues. Just drag your cursor through the blank space between the brackets to reveal them.

Giovanni has told us before that he likes to produce “bread and butter” puzzles from time to time, and this is one of them. It’s solid fare but with nothing too exciting. I got through it at a fairly steady rate but was held up in the top left-hand corner. Let us know what you think of it in a comment.
