From Closet Blogger, to occasional comments, via offering the odd tip to help guide Mary out of the Clueless Club, I suppose that this was the inevitable next step. I think it was Falcon who said that writing his first blog was like riding a bike without the training wheels. Now I know what he meant! Knowing that BD, and the rest of the team, is “out there” to help is a great comfort, however. We have a nicely balanced puzzle today from Giovanni. A good mix of difficulty and clue construction (including a couple of “old chestnuts”) that should please everyone. But what do you think?

I had to use the de-icer quite extensively this morning before I could take my car to the garage for its MOT, so winter seems to have arrived. That may account for my grumpiness but, whatever the reason, I didn’t think that this was one of Giovanni’s better puzzles – there was a distinct shortage of “doh” moments. On the other hand you may have loved it, so let us know what you thought.
If you need to see an answer just drag your cursor through the space between the brackets under the clue.

This was a game of two halves for me. Three-quarters of the grid went in fairly quickly, then I got held up in the NE corner where I was convinced that 9a was going to be a country and that the definition of 5d was “provided” – some nice bits of misdirection here. Thanks to Giovanni for a very enjoyable puzzle.
Let us know what you thought of it. If you want to reveal an answer just highlight the space between the brackets under the clue.

For the third time this week, Gazza has kindly vacated the hot seat to allow one of his fellow bloggers who doesn’t normally get the chance to do an on-the-day review to have a go. If he had his unaccustomed but well-deserved lie in, he will have missed a superb sunrise which kept distracting me from the job in hand, the review of this very enjoyable Giovanni puzzle.

I was expecting a themed puzzle today but it’s a straightforward offering from Giovanni, enjoyable as ever. The grid does contain some of the dreaded double unches which I know that some don’t like although I don’t see them as a problem. Let us know how you fared.
Since this is my last blog before the holiday may I take this opportunity to wish everyone (setters, fellow bloggers, commenters and lurkers) a Very Happy Christmas.

Straightforward and enjoyable (and possibly a relief for some after yesterday’s tougher puzzle) – what more can I say? A comment from you would be very welcome.
If you want to see an answer just highlight the space between the brackets under the clue.

I eventually (on my twenty-seventh attempt) managed to get into the on-line site this morning and printed out the puzzle, but the effort of doing that obviously tired it out so it sulked for the next hour.
I thought that this was a pretty entertaining puzzle with a number of smiles. Let us know how you found it.
