Giovanni has told us in the past that he likes to provide puzzles for solvers with different levels of experience and this one should be within the compass of nearly everyone. As we always say, just because a puzzle is relatively easy does not mean that it can’t be entertaining and there are some very enjoyable clues here.
Let us know what you thought of it. If you are a long-time lurker, or even an occasional visitor, who’s never left a comment then today would be an ideal time to introduce yourself – we are a friendly bunch and won’t bite!
If you want to see an actual answer just highlight the hidden text between the curly brackets under the clue (for those with mobile devices there’s some more help on how to do this in the FAQ section).

Good morning from a storm-racked Devon. This is my first blog this month and I’m returning to duty with a Giovanni puzzle which has a mixture of pretty easy clues with a few trickier ones thrown in. Let me know how you got on and how you liked it.
If you want to see an answer just highlight the space between the brackets under the clue – further information for users with mobile devices can be found in the FAQ.

I’m still knackered for my excesses of the last couple of days, so in many ways I was grateful that I was able to complete this puzzle quickly while still half-asleep. To be fair it fits the brief for a back-page puzzle but without causing me to get the blue highlighter out. I started top left and worked steadily through, none of the clues requiring more than a second glance. Many thanks to Gazza for standing in for me yesterday.

Whereas the left-hand half of this one went in fairly quickly I did have a bit of a struggle with the right side, so I make this the hardest back-pager of the week. Thanks to Giovanni for the entertainment. Let us know how you got on with it.
If you want to see an answer just highlight the space between the curly brackets under the clue.

There seemed to be a lot of clues in this puzzle where we have to chop off a leading or trailing letter and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I normally do on Fridays. Let us know your opinion.
If my hint is not good enough to give you an answer then you can reveal it by highlighting the spaces between the curly brackets under the clue. More information on how to do this if you are using a mobile device can be found in the FAQ.

Giovanni has his trickier hat on today, but this one is well worth persevering with and has some cracking clues. How did you fare with it?
If you need to see an answer just highlight the space between the brackets under the clue; if you’re accessing the blog from an I-thingy or similar there is some advice on how to do this in the FAQ.

A bit of a re-shuffle in Bloggingland, unfortunately caused by Tilsit being detained at the NHS’s pleasure, affords me another turn in the Hot Seat. My first effort at blogging – back in the balmy days of January – was a Giovanni puzzle. I commented then that “We have a nicely balanced puzzle today from Giovanni. A good mix of difficulty and clue construction (including a couple of “old chestnuts”) that should please everyone”. Déjà vu all over again?

First of all I would like to thank everybody for their birthday wishes last Saturday as I hit my 50th. Then secondly I would like to thank Gazza for stepping into the Monday spot at short notice (I had a sick cat to pick up from the vets). That left me with the opportunity of blogging a Friday Giovanni. I don’t know about the rest of you but this seemed to be a tough one and took longer than normal. Just in case you missed it, it is also a pangram.

There’s a shortage of religious references today but otherwise it’s a fairly typical Giovanni puzzle (which means that the wordplay is impeccable). Let us know how you coped with it.
To reveal an answer drag your cursor through the spaces between the brackets under the clue; if you are viewing the log on a mobile device then there’s some help on how to do this in the FAQ section.

Today is Friday the Thirteenth so was this to be an omen for a devilishly difficult puzzle? Well not really – this one is well towards the easier end of Giovanni’s range, although as usual a little bit of general knowledge is very helpful. I can’t say that I enjoyed it a great deal, but I’d like to hear your views.
If you need to see an answer just highlight the space between the curly brackets under the clues – if you’re using a hand-held device then some assistance on how to do the revealing can be found in the FAQ.
