Another splendid start to Sunday from Virgilius – I had a bit of a mental block with 12a but once I had worked it out, thought it should join my list of favourite clues, all highlighted in blue.

Our Saturday Mysteron provided us with another straightforward but enjoyable start to Saturday morning. However did it contain, as Prolixic pointed out, a hidden message commenting on the problems with the Telegraph Puzzles site? Have a look at the solutions to 26a, 5d and 3d and see what you think.

This week Cephas presented us with one of those seems-tricky-while-solving/took-the-same-time-as usual puzzles , but that’s one of the joys of cryptic solving, one never knows how each puzzle will work out. Thanks to Cephas once again.

I think Prolixic is gradually increasing his toughness level – whilst retaining the high enjoyment factor – so a big thank you to him for providing me (and you) with another very enjoyable Saturday lunchtime diversion.

This Sunday Virgilius provided us with an easy cryptic which was a delight to solve (and revisit for the review) with many fine clues; my top favourites are highlighted in blue.

Thanks to Virgilius once again for a super start to Sunday – it didn’t take me long to solve and, apart from a groan at 19a, I did enjoy the experience. If there was a “themette” this time, I certainly didn’t spot it!

This week’s Saturday puzzle split the camp between those like me who found it easy solving and others who struggled to get sort out the wordplay and find the solutions. Thank you to the Saturday Mysteron – the clue I liked the best was 7d.

The usual straightforward start to a Saturday morning from Cephas (thank you to him), this time with leanings to the French side of the Channel and the added bonus of a Pangram. The clues I particularly liked are highlighted in blue.

A trickier offering from Virgilius this week with great clues and enjoyment factor throughout. Lots of ‘read the clue carefully’ and hidden words all added to make this solver at least very happy at the end of the Sunday morning brain stretcher.
