Seeing Robyn as the setter today was a bit of a surprise but proXimal has been busy setting EV’s so maybe next week. This was a bit of a breeze with plenty of anagrams, reversals and removal of tops, but I did have to check 3d with google maps. It is an ideal introduction to those dipping their toes into Toughies

Many thanks to Zandio who sent me an advance copy of the puzzle as I will be/am boozing with crossword peeps at the S&B in York. Fortunately, this puzzle was not as “Gross” as its number suggests and apart from not knowing enough about RFK Jr it was a not-too-tuff tuffie
Along with the Sunday Toughie, Zandio sent the GK puzzle that appears next to the toughie and for those interested in all things Sloggers & Betters I believe there is a bit of a theme to be discovered
We have 14a and 14d clues today and as has become my practice I have hinted just under half, A bonus nudge may be available if required but bear in mind I may be feeling a little hungover after the aforementioned boozing

A very friendly Toughie today, I started at **** and had it finished before midnight, Oops better redact myself as we don’t approve of solving times as it may deter new solvers who may be dipping a toe in Toughiedom for the first time.

The top half went in fairly fast for me but I slowed down considerably as I approached the end, the little ones gave the most parsing grief and I had to ask for help with the Burgundian’s covering
Plenty of signature proXimalisms today and a generous 15a and 16d clues today I have hinted just under half so have a bit of leeway with a bonus nudge if required – but beware the 9a piece of cake that Sue may provide for those that get sent to The Naughty Step – Sue said yesterday that the rather nice Victoria Sponge with Home-Made Plum Jam was reserved for the recuperating Mr CS – Get Well Soon
