What a difference 24 hours makes. Yesterday I had a superb cryptic puzzle to blog and today I have a Toughie which (how can I say this without offending?) lacks sparkle. You may agree or you may have found it dazzling and stimulating – in either case give us your view in a comment.

Hello from the Vega Baja. Once more we have a Wednesday puzzle that’s not too difficult but with 2 or 3 clues to keep you on your toes! Possibly a bit heavy on clues involving anagrams (not my favourites as you probably know by now). Somehow I thought this was a bit ‘flat’ for a Jay puzzle but maybe that’s just me! As for star ratings – I’ve given 2* based on my personal solving time. If you post a comment please leave your own star rating and at about 1700BST I’ll average the lot and see what you guys think of it compared to me.

Although not too difficult (for me it took less time than today’s back-page puzzle), this was very enjoyable.

What a lovely surprise! We have a superb puzzle today, a breath of fresh air chock-full of excellent and amusing clues. Even without the big hint at 20a I would have guessed that one of our newest Toughie setters has graduated to the back page. If the Telegraph Puzzles Editor is reading this, could I stress the need to keep this setter for Tuesdays.
If you want to see an answer just highlight the space between the brackets under the relevant clue.

Typical Rufus crossword this morning, however 1a and 8d as well as 2d and 19a seem a bit repetitive. Favourite clue? Probably 12d.

As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, I will select an assortment of clues and provide hints for them.

Dear Phil
I know I haven’t been kind to you in the past with one or two less than positive reviews, but I speak from the heart as a passionate solver and try to let you know how I feel about my experiences. I don’t see the point in being untrue about a puzzle I can’t get on with. This week I was nearly sticking pins in a doll of you, when access to the site has been all over the place but ultimately it isn’t your fault, so the pins were returned to the sewing box (my modelling skills produced a doll that looked more like Mick Hucknall than you anyway!).
But I am being spoiled something rotten on a Friday. Elgar is a regular and the last two Friday slots have been Notabilis and today Micawber, three of the finest setters around and they have all produced wonderful amazing puzzles. Today’s Micawber gets a five star rating all-round. A puzzle full of stunning invention, wit and topical stuff. Bravo and it is great to see you encourage this younger talent that makes me feel the future of the black and white grid is in very safe hands. This week’s Dada was a fine puzzle too.
Now if you can just make the site behave……

Good morning from a drizzly North Devon – where’s Summer gone? Luckily there’s a very entertaining puzzle from Giovanni to cheer us up. I look forward to reading your comments (can I just emphasise that the bloggers do read all the comments, though obviously not all need a response).
If you need to see (or check) an answer just drag your cursor through the space between the brackets under the clue.

A slightly trickier than usual offering from the Saturday Mysteron this week which caused problems for quite a few posters (and quite a few lurkers too judging by the number of visits to the hints page). Analysis for this review has revealed lots to make me smile and I have highlighted my favourites in blue.
