As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, I will select a few of the better clues and provide hints for them.
Don’t forget that you can give your assessment of the puzzle. Five stars if you thought it was great, one if you hated it, four, three or two if it was somewhere in between.
A full review of this puzzle will be published on Thursday, 26th August.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was a real toughie but very accessible. The clues were all perfectly fair and I could understand them all after a little thought.

A very easy one for me, partly because I saw through 1A quickly.

A pleasant, gentle stroll from Giovanni today should please the Clueless Club. I wavered between two and three stars for difficulty, but I had no doubt about the four stars for entertainment because it has many enjoyable and amusing clues. Let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment.
If, in spite of the hints, you still need to see an answer, just highlight the space between the brackets under the relevant clue.

I had no real difficulty with this one. The anagram lovers will be feeling a little deprived because there’s only one in the entire puzzle.

Like quite a few fellow solvers, it took me a while to get into the swing of this Cephas puzzle – I do believe he is making us work harder these days. I wasn’t entirely convinced I had enjoyed the process when I finished but there is something about writing the review that makes you appreciate the clues more than at first read through, and the realisation that I have actually noticed the pangram always makes me feel good.

This was a mundane plodding sort of puzzle from which I derived very little pleasure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle which is a proper Toughie and has some cracking clues, although I think that there’s an error in 3d.

I took a while to get into today’s Jay puzzle, the downs falling into place quicker than the acrosses but in the end it only took me a couple of minutes longer than usual to solve. I have based the difficulty rating partly on my initial struggle and partly on how hard it was to work out why I had the answer I had! There are a nice mix of clues, including several to please the anagram fans.
