Looking back at the notes I made when I test solved this one, I did find some of it slightly trickier than usual, but it was still very enjoyable as it has a number of Prolixic’s trademark clues – you can always imagine the twinkle in his eye when he set them! Thanks to him for another great Saturday afternoon diversion – can’t wait for the next one.

This puzzle was sent to a number of us just before Christmas as a thank you from Prolixic for our help with his puzzle setting. It was on the difficult side and, indeed, I seem to remember taking a couple of days off and on to solve it and needing checking letters/Chambers to finish it off. A very enjoyable puzzle – Thank you Prolixic.

[Crypticsue] This time Prolixic has given us a very entertaining themed puzzle, some clues reflecting the religious significance of this time of year and others some of the more secular aspects of the seasonal celebrations. Highly recommended to all.

[Crypticsue] – Yet another super Saturday puzzle from Prolixic. More experienced solvers like me will enjoy the wordplay and those newer to the art of the Cryptic should be able to finish it without too much difficulty.
[Gnomethang] – Thanks to Crypticsue for doing the type-work (again!); All I had to do was write the amended clues, fill in some wordplay and provide some pretty pictures!. There were some very well worked clues here and the result is a rather accessible puzzle for anyone looking for a slightly augmented challenge from the Saturday Prize Puzzle.
As always, you can reveal an answer by highlighting the word or words between the curly brackets. Do let us have your comments on the puzzle as well. It is always good for the setter to get feedback and acknowledgment of the hard work that has gone into creating the crossword.
Many thanks to Prolixic for this week’s challenge.
