I found this pretty straightforward today except for two plants that I’d never heard of and those two are the reason for the third difficulty star. Let us know what you thought of it in a comment.

This is a fairly straightforward puzzle and it shouldn’t pose too many problems. My greatest difficulty was in working out how some of the answers matched the definitions. Let us know how you got on in a comment.

Shamus makes a welcome return today (we know that this is one of his because he told us a couple of weeks ago when his next puzzle would appear) with a not-too-difficult but very enjoyable puzzle. Let us know how you found it.

We have an unknown setter today (but a different one from last week, unless I’m very much mistaken). I thought that this was enjoyable and just about the right level of difficulty for the back-page puzzle – let us know what you thought in a comment.

I was hoping for a Shamus puzzle today but I’m pretty sure that this is not one of his (I’m laying myself open to a big egg-on-face moment here!). It seems to have a North American bias and is one of the easiest back-page puzzles I can remember. I completed it without deriving a great deal of enjoyment and found the surface readings of quite a few clues quite awkward, but on the plus side it should provide the opportunity for a mass escape by members of the Clueless Club.

I’m not sure whether this is by Shamus. I think that it’s his turn this week and although this one is not a pangram, the Quickie is. If it is a Shamus puzzle then it’s one of the easiest ones he’s given us and an ideal puzzle for someone starting out on cryptics, with an entertaining mixture of clues. Let us know how you got on in a comment.

Morning All!. Once again Gazza kindly offered me the chance to blog ‘on the day’ so thanks to him. I enjoyed this puzzle from (I presume) the mystery setter. I thought that some of the anagram indicators were very well chosen to maintain the theme of the surface reading. There are one or two possibly unfamiliar words but in each case the wordplay is clear.

For once I know who the Tuesday setter is because Shamus told us last week that this would be one of his. Thanks to him for an entertaining puzzle.
