Crikey, this was tough particularly in the NW corner, but well worth the effort despite the typos in 4a and 13d.
As the letters to be removed from the anagram fodder in 8a appear in a different order in the clue, a secondary anagram indicator is required (although this is hair-splitting in this particular case as only two letters are involved!)
3d was easy for me as I had a cataract removed yesterday so the answer was very much at the front of my mind.
I had a plethora of ticked clues: 9a, 14a, 18a, 20a, 25a, 2d, 6d & 15d.
Many thanks to Madcap, but with a request for something a little less challenging next time please.
I’ve just noticed a comment on my page that I missed when I posted yesterday. Strictly speaking, shouldn’t 1a say “… with two kisses …”?
Caffeine definitely required! Thanks for the brain mangling Madcap.
Smiles for 11a, 23a, 7d, 15d, 19d, and 25d.
A couple of typos? ‘overdoes’ in 4a – swap the last two letters and ‘seductres’ in 13d – another ‘S’ required at the end.
Thanks again but I agree with RD’s request and thanks in advance to CS(WiFi permitting?).
Having come out to ‘borrow ‘ my friend’s Internet, I think it is highly unlikely I’ll be able to review this one as I don’t suppose BT will do anything to get me back online until Monday. I’m sure a kind person will volunteer, she said optimistically
Quirky and great fun – many thanks to Madcap.
From a lot of ticks I’ll mention 14a, 18a and 7d.
Quite challenging and really enjoyable to slowly work through it all. Spent ages trying to work AX somewhere into 1a for example.
We’ll make that one our favourite.
Thanks Madcap.
Very enjoyable indeed. It makes up for not having a Friday Toughie that mere mortals can have a bash at when Elgar is on duty. A couple of parsings I’m not 100% sure about but delighted to complete with no letter reveal. 7d my clear fav & particularly liked 1,23&25a + 15&19d.
Many thanks Madcap & in advance to tomorrow’s reviewer.
Challenging for us also! We saw the typos and like the kiwis we initially expected ax in 1a. Favourites were 8a and 21a. Thank you Madcap – but a tad easier next time, please. Thanks also to CS – and good luck with BT!
