A fairly typical Friday puzzle from Giovanni this morning. Understanding the wordplay in 22d, my last one in, almost pushed me into *** time, hence the borderline marking.

The BBC CiNA (Children in Need Appeal) 3D Calendar Puzzle for 2015 is now available. Each day has a clue. Each month has a 3D grid to complete. Some of the best setters in the UK have given of their genius freely to provide us with enough clues to solve to keep us out of trouble for most of the year.

I found this to be a trickier than usual Kcit puzzle. It didn’t help that I couldn’t give it my undivided attention because I had to keep an eye on a 5-year-old at the same time that I was solving it. Even so I think it was definitely in the 4-star difficulty zone. It was an enjoyable puzzle in which some of the wordplay needed a bit of thought.

Hola from the Vega Baja on a beautiful autumn morning with not a cloud in the sky but there is a slight nip in the air. I’m pretty sure this is a RayT production as Her Majesty is in attendance and all but one of the clues are eight words or less. Not very much in the way of innuendo and perhaps a few more anagrams than RayT usually includes, which I know will please many of you. There are also three hidden word clues, two of them reversed, so I reckon a certain lady blogger might be pleased to be giving this one a miss.
I found it very enjoyable and not too taxing so I’ll be interested to see your comments.

I’m pretty sure that I completed this in record time for an Elkamere or Anax puzzle, which means either that I’m getting better at them (unlikely, given the rate of disappearance of my brain cells) or (more probably) that Elkamere is in a charitable frame of mind. That said, I did enjoy it a great deal, especially the brilliant 5d and 11a.

We had a beautiful fine Spring morning for our walk earlier but now, as it often does at this time of the year, a wind has built up and the sky is grey. Just the weather for solving and blogging crosswords.
