Good morning from South Staffs on a bright, sunny morning with the promise of another hot day.
I found it a little difficult to get started on this puzzle from the Don, perhaps because I always like to start in the NW corner, and that turned out to be the last to yield.

Good morning to everyone from a cool and, so far at least, a rather hazy morning in Oxford. This is my first attempt at doing most of it “my own self”! A big thank you to Virgilius for another fine example of the ‘best puzzle of the week’ – quite a few double definitions this time but the stand out favourite has to be the laugh-out-loud moment when you ‘get’ 4d.
