I’m sure this was a very difficult puzzle to put together, but for someone with my lack of interest in films it was totally wasted. If it hadn’t been for Google, I would never have finished it, and if I hadn’t been reviewing it, having seen the word film a dozen times, I wouldn’t have started it. The Telegraph usually avoid themed puzzles, a policy that I wish they had stuck to today.

Good morning from South Staffs on a grey morning, with another downpour forecast.

I found this morning’s puzzle from Giovanni to be remarkably straightforward, possibly aided by the frequent appearances of items from Big Dave’s Usual Suspects page.

I spent last Saturday afternoon in a nice pub in Bristol with my fellow bloggers telling me that ‘today’s puzzle wouldn’t take me long’. Trouble was I had to wait until the evening to solve it as I didn’t see it until I got back to the paper waiting for me at my brother’s house – the promised morning print-out having been swallowed by Gnomey’s printer. ‘They’ were right! I found it a slightly different Cephas crossword this week – there seemed to be more cryptic definitions than his usual sprinkling of anagrams

I had no problems until I was delayed for a while by two answers in the NE corner. There’s one clue that someone will have to explain to me.

Good morning everyone, it’s the cockroach and the alley cat again.  Well, mehitabel  enjoyed it so much last week she couldn’t turn down archy’s invitation to have another go!

A pleasant enough puzzle I thought with a couple of clues that are a bit complicated to parse although easy enough to guess the answers.  Perhaps a bit heavy on charades and certainly light on anagrams!

Lovely stuff as usual on a Sunday morning.  My top favourites were 10a and 14a.   If I had one slight quibble, it would be that I did have to type anagram quite a lot in this review.

Thanks to Sparks for a very enjoyable Toughie which, for me, was a bit less tricky than yesterday’s. I didn’t know what grey-wether was but it certainly sounds like what we’re getting throughout the south of the UK at the moment. Your views, as always, are more than welcome.

Scchua is away this week.

Greetings from Huddersfield Infirmary! I’m currently resident here after surgery yesterday and although feeling a bit grotty, have a large stock of crosswords and reading material to keep me amused.

Today’s offering from Jay was a nice pleasant stroll and wasn’t particularly overtaxing, probably what I need. It seemed to have a number of what I term ‘swap’ clues where part of an answer needs to have something replaced by an abbreviation or similar, as well as a fair few word sums, making it a nice test for someone getting into cryptics.

I thought that a number of the clues in this puzzle were awkwardly but fairly constructed, which accounted for the difficulty level.

I thought that this was a bit trickier that what we normally get on Tuesdays (and none the worse for that). Do let us know whether you agree or whether you’ve labelled it a piece of cake.
