I am planning a little trip out with Mama Bee this afternoon and was hoping that Robyn would go easy on me last night. Fortunately, I managed to solve this before my wee dram had evaporated in the glass and have enough time to bring you a few hints for a grid with 14a and 16d clues today. Chat amongst yourselves and someone will help eventually, I will reply when I have got back from my favourite cheese and whisky shop
I started slowly but when the penny dropped on 1a it went straight to the top of my podium and stayed there.

Sunday Toughie No 55 by Robyn

Robyn gets the Sunday Toughie difficulty just about right for me, grid filled in time for a good seven hours kip and the trickier parsings seemed to sort themselves out in my dreams. A biblical moaner, several middle easterners, a musical way of playing and the musical based on Puccini’s La Bohème all make an appearance.
We also have a repeat of an answer in yesterday’s prize but clued in a slightly more risque way. An equally risque definition of hell too…

14a and 14d clues today and I have hinted half.

Sunday Toughie No 52 by Robyn

Not as tricky as the New Year’s Day Robyn, but lots to like. Very musical today with lots of earworms from The Lone Ranger, Supertramp, Hall and Oates, Elvis and any beat 21a of your choice. Shakespeare gets a couple of look-ins too. I tried to take a pic of my BD 6d without revealing too much but I see I have revealed a crossing letter. They are both hinted so San Fairy Ann.

A balanced 14a and 14d clues today. Half hinted. Hopefully, you will get enough checkers to get the rest, but if you want another nudge just ask.

We really need a 1a here as our boiler has just broken down, I need a 22a to keep me going. I have hinted about half of an evenly balanced 14a/14d clues and a few bonus pics as well. If there are any problems with the remainder please ask and I will try and guide you to the right solution between bouts of shivering. I hope the shivering is due to being overcaffeinated, I have swapped from a Kenyan Wanjegi to a Brazilian Single origin but wonder if the capital city we need for 24d produces coffee.
