Many thanks to Tilsit for holding the fort while I was in Nottingham last week.  My pictures can be seen here, with more from Lynette (Joyce of Bert and Joyce) to be added later [update: now added].

As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, an assortment of clues, including some of the more difficult ones, have been selected and hints provided for them.

Greetings from Daresbury Park.  Some of us have to work today, but there are worse places to earn a buck than here.

The boss (of the website!) is off mingling with the great and the good and a few others at the S&B bash in Nottingham.  If you are in the area, pop in and say hello.   You’ve  got me holding the fort today.

This was a fairly straightforward puzzle with lots of clues you could work out quite easily from the wordplay.  I think one might just hold a few people up and I have added it below and may get very cross if anyone posts the answer or further hints.

Thanks to all, especially the generous lady who sent me a cheque, for your support of our Open Gardens weekend, which raised over £6,200 for our local churches.  Thanks also to Tilsit for stepping up to the mark to provide hints for the last two Saturdays.

Morning all!  BD and Mrs BD are among the jams and fruitcakes at the local village fete today, so I’m here with your hints.

Another fine puzzle for a Saturday with a couple of little head scratchers to sort out.  I’m guessing it’s Cephas today.  The puzzle doesn’t have too many anagrams which is a plus for me.  There is a typo in 18 down, in both newspaper and online versions,  with an L missing from one of the words in the clue. (now corrected on line!)  However, it’s obvious what the word should be and it doesn’t affect anything in the puzzle.

If you are still at a loose end, you can have a crack at my very own General Knowledge Jumbo puzzle which is featured today at the Independent website. See if you can work out the connection between the three specific answers. It’s one of my more devious links!

It’s here!

Morning all!

A flying visit as I’m off to work, so here are the hints for today.  I’m sure there will be nice people around if needed, although if you are after more answers, they probably won’t be forthcoming.

It’s a fairly benign prize puzzle today and the number of anagrams dotted around should give you a good foothold.

Morning all, BD is off being lead negotiator at the Hanley in Swan Brexit negotiations, so I have stepped into the breach to keep an eye on today’s goings-on.

I rather suspect we have a visit today from the Mysteron with a puzzle that I really enjoyed (2.5* &4*).  I suspect some of the traditionalists may find it not to their liking, but it’s rather amusing with a few topical references and neologisms scattered around.  There are also a fair few anagrams around, and I have ignored most of the longer clues that feature anagrams.  There’s also one rather poignant topical clue at 1 across which should become apparent.

Thank you to our Mysterious Setter for a very pleasant solve that was not too taxing.
