Between the title and the preamble there’s not a lot to go on, but I thought I’d see what ChatGPT could come up with. I asked, “A themed crossword puzzle asks us to identify a text containing an often repeated word. Can you suggest any possible texts?”

Sunday Telegraph Cryptic No 3320 (Hints)

Hints and tips by Senf

A very good Sunday morning from Winnipeg where late afternoon, early evening yesterday we had some rain, not enough but better than nothing, and a feeble attempt at a thunder storm.

For me, and I stress for me©, Dada upped the ante for today’s puzzle – four long uns, two anagrams, one lurker with an indicator usually associated with another type of clue, and one homophone all in a symmetric 32 clues; with 16 hints ‘sprinkled’ throughout the grid, you should be able to get the checkers to enable the solving of the unhinted clues.  And, remember, my electronic blue pencil is at the ready and the Naughty Step is OPEN!

Candidates for favourite – 5a, 16a, 19a, 27a,2d, 4d, and 8d.

As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, a number of the more difficult clues have been selected and hints provided for them.

Ooh a Robyn – We haven’t seen a Sunday Toughie from him since #153 on the 29th December last year. I have missed his style and have got a bit rusty as I found this quite tricky. I hope you find enough checkers to finish this, although I bet 24d is going straight into Terence’s LIST™

Gazza will be bringing you the hints next Sunday as I am away to the Springsteen concert at Anfield. I will be home earlyish on Sunday and look forward to solving that puzzle with Gazza’s hints to help

A late revision has sent Harry, Graham and Dennis to the cutting room floor as I have doubts about the Kingdom of Jordan. Is it a school subject after the definite article or the abbreviation of the location of Jordan. I have plumped for the latter, but in the absence of the old check facility I may be wrong (again)

Here we go…

Sunday Telegraph Cryptic No 3319 (Hints)

Hints and tips by Senf

A very good Sunday morning from Winnipeg where serious wildfires continue in NW and SE Manitoba with air operations for ‘water bombers’ and RCAF aircraft for evacuation being hampered by the smoke and some towns have been evacuated completely.  Similar conditions prevail to the West of us in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

For me, and I stress for me©, Dada very friendly once again – six anagrams (two partials), three lurkers (one reversed), and one homophone all in an  asymmetric 29 clues; with 14 hints ‘sprinkled’ throughout the grid, you should be able to get the checkers to enable the solving of the unhinted clues.  And, remember, my electronic blue pencil is at the ready and the Naughty Step is OPEN!

Candidates for favourite – 12a, 23a, 27a, 4d, and 6d.

As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, a number of the more difficult clues have been selected and hints provided for them.

proXimal gave me a rather stern test last night, and I had to email a friend to see the standards (thanks Gazza and Mike. A spoonerism to start and a couple of compound anagrams sign this better than any byline

We have a generous 16a and 16d clues and I have hinted half, I hope you get the checkers to solve this fine puzzle but I will try and give a nudge or two if required.

Time to take Mama Bee out for coffee and a listen to the brass bands in Wetherby. I will help if I can and if the WiFi by The Ings is up to it

Here we go, Folks…

Dave Hennings’ database at xwdb.info tells us that today’s setter has had at least 186 barred puzzles published under her aliases Chalicea and Curmudgeon, and that’s before any collaborations are taken into account. The first appeared in the Magpie magazine in October 2009, which  indicates an average of something close to one every month since. Wow!
