Greetings from Ottawa, where – as for many of you around the world – Remembrance Day is being marked today. In addition to today’s ceremony at the National War Memorial, for several days there has been a nightly display of images of poppies dropping down the Peace Tower – each representing a fallen member of the armed forces.

I found today’s puzzle to be at the easier end of the spectrum, though as enjoyable as usual from Robyn.

In the hints below, underlining identifies precise definitions and cryptic definitions, FODDER is capitalized, and indicators are italicized. The answers will be revealed by clicking on the ANSWER buttons.

Please leave a comment telling us what you thought of the puzzle.

Greetings from Ottawa. Yes, it’s me again this week. However, next week you can look forward to the debut appearance of the newest member of the blogging team who will share the Monday blogging slot with me going forward.

On this side of the pond. we are gearing up for Halloween festivities later this week. Unfortunately, those hoping to score chocolate bars in their treat bags may find the pickings slim. It seems the cost of chocolate and other ingredients has skyrocketed this year and the manufacturers have reacted by shrinking the size of chocolate bars to the point that one needs a handful of them to amount to a bite.

In the hints below, underlining identifies precise definitions and cryptic definitions, FODDER is capitalized, and indicators are italicized. The answers will be revealed by clicking on the ANSWER buttons.

Hola from Almoradí for what will be the last time. Yes, having been doing this job on and off since 2 March 2011 I’ve finally decided that it’s time to throw in the towel.  It’s been fun over the years but recently I find my heart is no longer in it so I’ll pass the blog seat on to someone else.

As to the puzzle our setter has provided a corker for my last review.  I thought I’d cleaned the across clues but on coming to solve 3d I realised I had a wrong answer in 15a.  Shows you should fully parse an answer before putting it in.  I bet I’m not the only one who fell into this trap.

Hola from Almoradí.  I haven’t a clue how many of these blogs I’ve written over the years but it must be a few hundred by now and this is the first time I’ve ever had to do one on my birthday!  Yep, counting in hexadecimal I am 47 today!

Today we have another example of what has become the norm for a Monday puzzle.  It’s very well crafted and has a touch of humour but it won’t frighten the horses at all.

Hola from Almoradí where autumn is definitely on its way. Last Friday was the first day since late June that the temperature failed to top 30°C which was a very welcome change.

Today we have another splendid Monday puzzle.  Two weeks ago I only missed two of the across clues but this week I’ve done better by solving every clue in order. There are some quite elegant bits of wordplay and more than a few smiles so, even though it was short, it was enjoyable while it lasted.
