I seem to have spent a lot of time on this puzzle, first solving it, then giving the Hints and Tips on Saturday and finally (and unexpectedly) having to sit down and prepare the review. Thank you to Cephas for a trickier puzzle than we are used to with a much lower anagram count than usual. I seem to have had a lot more fun with it third time round!

Today’s blog was supposed to be a joint Fred/Ginger production but sadly he is currently stuck in his ‘second home’ without access to the web. Notabilis quite often provides us with a tricky Toughie, but I found today’s puzzle on the ‘fluffy’ side of hobnailed, very enjoyable with some splendid d’oh moments. As far as I can see, there isn’t the usual Notabilis Nina, but I am sure someone will let me know if I am wrong.

Some clues required a little more perservation than usual for a Saturday morning and only one ‘favourite’ which had more to do with its relevance to my private life than to this crossword from one of our Saturday Mysterons.

Having turned to the back page of the paper expecting to solve a Cephas puzzle, it was doubly disappointing to find that the puzzle was on the inside of the back page again, and that the crossword was a lacklustre puzzle from the ‘occasional Saturday Mysteron’ (as opposed to the regular Saturday Mysteron who alternates with Cephas).

The other day someone commented that some of BD’s blogging team seem more human than others. Well no-one has ever actually seen Gazza, but whichever planet he comes from, his powers of both observation, deduction and persuasion are second to none, as once again, when I have a day off, he is the one having the lie-in while I go off to the local shop at the usual time, today returning home to blog the crossword.
One of the Tuesday Mysterons has given us with a fairly straightforward puzzle with a nice mix of clues, which was enjoyable both to solve and blog.
