BD Rating – Difficulty **Enjoyment ***

Greetings from Kolkata. A nice, entertaining Saturday puzzle from NYDK that I enjoyed solving and thereafter writing a review of the same for your kind perusal and significant feedback.

After solving the puzzle, I was anxious to know more about Ephesus, the ancient Greek city and the answer to the clue of 20d. I discovered from the net that this place is now located in the western coast of Anatolia i.e. modern Selçuk in İzmir Province, modern-day Turkey. It was founded in the tenth century BCE by ancient Greeks, traditionally attributed to Ionian colonists. It was a major city of classical antiquity, famous for its Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and Roman-era ruins, including the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre. Ephesus became part of the Roman Empire, then the Byzantine Empire and eventually came under Seljuk, now Selçuk, and then Ottoman control. While Ephesus is no longer a living city, it ruins are a archaeological site in Turkey and it was originally a prominent Greek and Roman city.
