Good morning everyone. One of the things that I like about Thursday crosswords is their unpredictability – it’s also one of the things that makes me nervous about doing the hints. I’m sure that this one is a Ray T and I found it fairly tricky – unless I’ve missed some there are only three anagrams which may have contributed to the difficulty, for me anyway.

Morning All!. I found this a simple but effective puzzle in the main. The beauty was, as always, the great surface readings and a couple of clues where traditional clue indicators were used but not employed in order to fox us further ( q.v. 15d).

This is the kind of Toughie I like – no very obscure words with the ‘toughness’ being in the wordplay and the clever camouflaging of many of the definitions. Thanks to Osmosis.

The calendar tells us that spring has arrived, we put our clocks forward last weekend and there are proud mother ducks with flotillas of ducklings on the ponds we walk past, but the hills to the west of us have become mountains again with a fresh coating of snow. We have been doing our homework and practicing adding pictures. Hope they work!
Another nice offering from Jay.

Here’s a puzzle for those who have been complaining that the recent Toughies have not come up to the mark. Although not as ferociously difficult as some of his puzzles, at least Elgar offers value-for-money.

Good morning from Umberleigh in North Devon, where we are spending a few days. A damp, grey start to the day has now given way to beautiful late September sunshine.
Most of today’s puzzle from Giovanni went in without difficulty, but the last couple tipped me into *** time, with 7d the last one in.
