  1. Well, I have tried everything I can think of – cache clearing, restarts, shut down and restart – more than several times, on a laptop and a tablet, and I cannot get to crypticcrosswords.net to access the MPP or the NTSPP so a very dull Saturday until I can get to tomorrow’s Virgilius in 8 hours and 20 minutes.

    1. Ctrl + F5 should work M Moutarde – or, I know it sounds drastic, but rebooting your router is a 50/50 fix

  2. It was OK till I got completely stuck in the NW corner. I eventually got going again by filling in the name of a flower but I may not have got it correct. Time will tell.

  3. Definitely not a walk in the park but got there eventually and found 8+ English flowers.
No way to send in an entry though – no ‘captcha’ showing!

    Thanks for the challenge, Prolixic.

  4. Like Jane, I got there eventually too, but it was a stiff challenge for sure. I’ve learnt four new words during the solve as well.

Many thanks to Prolixic for putting this together.

  5. Even by using all the Google help I can muster I have still only got 7 on my list. Will have another search tomorrow. At least I have got the puzzle solved which itself was quite a challenge.
    Thanks Prolixic.

  6. Definitely a toughie. Got the bottom half (I think) but short of flowers. Did like 19a. I will keep plugging away until the 17th. Thanks to Prolixic and Mr Google for the assistance so far.

  7. I’ve found eight … I wonder how many I have missed?

    Definitely a Toughie for me!

    Thanks Prolixic.

    ps. Always love the MPP.

  8. :phew:
That was a real Toughie. My current scorecard reads:

    New words – 2
    Partly unparsed – 3
“Bunged in” with no idea of either the wordplay or the definition! – 1
    Flowers – 5

I will take a breather and then carrying on hunting for flowers.

Many thanks, Prolixic, for a really enjoyable challenge.

  9. I got stuck in the NW corner for quite a long time. But it was a flower that I guessed and that seemed to complete the puzzle. I actually found nine flowers. Eventually, I chose eight of them for my answer and ignored the ninth as it was the only one which was not in the ‘sirat al-mustaqim’. I liked 8a and 3d. However, I got shocked after I delved deeper into history and found 18d. It was a novel discovery. Thanks to Prolixic for the challenge and entertainment. Will patiently wait for the review.
