Today’s NTSPP is one of Prolixic’s puzzles that I hadn’t test solved and I have to say that I found it on the trickier side of his crossword spectrum. I even went to the interactive version to get a couple of helpful letters. Having said that, the majority of the puzzle is gettable without help, with a few of his trademark ‘cheeky’ clues. I recommend you have a go and see if you do better than me!
Thanks to Prolixic for another fine crossword – can’t wait for the next one.
Top-class puzzle from Prolixic which I really enjoyed. 1a was very nearly my last answer in so it wasn’t until then that the theme revealed itself in a penny-drop moment – if I’d got 1a sooner it would have helped a lot with several of the other themed clues! I liked 15d and 22d but by a long way my favourite clue was 20a.
An enjoyable puzzle with a nice theme worked into the answers without compromising the fairness of the grid or with the need to include obscure words. I like the way Prolixic has disguised the definition in a number of clues, e.g. 1a – the basic clue constructs aren’t harder, but it takes a little longer to spot the deception
