The ‘dreaded 404’ instead of the puzzle.
Link updated and should now work.
Thanks very much Prolixic. Yes it does work. Have successfully printed off a hard copy.
Tricky in places but an enjoyable post-lunch solve. Some nice bits of sneaky misdirection too
Thanks to Zebedee and, in advance, to Stephen
This was certainly a challenge, but one very well worth the effort. I have ticks all over my page and just the one hmm for the vague girl in 23d. To be fair, it’s not the easiest girl’s name to try to qualify, and I can’t think of a single famous one of that ilk.
18a was brilliant and my outstanding favourite of many excellent clues.
Many thanks to Zebedee. Please keep them coming.
Thanks to Prolixic for updating the link. Caffeine and some e-help required on my Saturday morning to overcome the trickiness and misdirection mentioned by CS. I know 3d is in dictionaries but that does not stop me considering that it is a dreadful word!
Smiles for 12a, 14a, 18a, 2d, 17d, and 24d.
Thanks Zebedee and thanks in advance to Stephen.
A very enjoyable pangram with the bottom trickier than the top for me – many thanks to Zebedee.
I ticked 1a, 14a, 18a, 13d, 17d (Never groomed woman – brilliant) and 20d.
A laboured grid completion with a couple of the whys still to resolve. I found this pretty challenging but thoroughly enjoyed the tussle. Lots to like but I’ll plump for the august writer & the never groomed woman as my picks from a fine bunch with 1,14,18&25a + 3,5&16d other particular likes.
Thanks Zebedee & in advance to Stephen
Quite a challenge but all satisfactorily solved, even 18a where HS2 was totally new for us. Many ticks on our page with top honours for 17d.
Thanks Zebedee.
