  1. An excellent puzzle – many thanks to Prolixic.
With this type of puzzle I always find it tricky to start but speed up once a few answers are in.
Top clues for me were 8a, 15a, 6d and 24d.

  2. I am sorry to say I have thrown the towel in.

I had reservations when I read the preamble but I was buoyed up when my first two entries (1d & 25a) were almost write-ins. Nothing more then came to mind for a considerable amount of time until I managed to scrape together another handful of answers.

Given the mixed doubles constraint, great respect must go to Prolixic on compiling such a complex puzzle while maintaining smooth surfaces throughout. Respect too to anyone who solves this in a reasonable time.

  3. A warning flag was raised when Prolixic described his ‘next’ NTSPP five weeks ago. Like RD I threw in the towel after finding only two solutions – 2d and 25a in my case – in over an hour.

Thanks to the brilliant Prolixic for compiling this brain mangler but more than my brain could cope with and thanks in advance to CS.
