Greetings from Daresbury Park. Â Some of us have to work today, but there are worse places to earn a buck than here.

The boss (of the website!) is off mingling with the great and the good and a few others at the S&B bash in Nottingham.  If you are in the area, pop in and say hello.  You’ve  got me holding the fort today.
This was a fairly straightforward puzzle with lots of clues you could work out quite easily from the wordplay. Â I think one might just hold a few people up and I have added it below and may get very cross if anyone posts the answer or further hints.
As is usual for the weekend prize crosswords, an assortment of clues, including some of the more difficult ones, have been selected and hints provided for them.

A lovely puzzle which I managed within 3* difficulty time, though I found it hard in parts (it took me a while to twig onto 7d, which meant I was left in the dark for a bit with 16d as well, and there were a few words I didn’t know).… Continue reading

Hola from the Vega Baja on a cloudy but warm morning.  This one doesn’t feel to me like a RayT production but all bar one of the clues fit his word count limit, Her Majesty makes an appearance and there’s a reversed lurker so you never know.  Whoever the setter is he or she has given us an enjoyable puzzle which won’t frighten too many of the horses and will raise a smile or two.  If you like double definitions you’ll be happy because there’s five by my count.

Morning All! This solve just stayed in the one star territory for me but had some great clues; my favourite, as senf, was 1d.

Shamus has given us a fairly gentle Toughie today which should allow us all ample time to enjoy the welcome sunshine (well, the sun’s shining in my neck of the woods at least).… Continue reading
