Good morning. This is my debut in the Tuesday slot and I will endeavour to maintain Huntsman’s high standards, as he bashes a small white ball around manicured golf courses in the sunshine of the Algarve, where it is 20 degrees according to the BBC weather app – we are not jealous!
A couple of references to the festive period, with the cattle noise at 13a and the animal feeding trough at 21d. Memo to Mr Lancaster – we are still in November!

Greetings from Ottawa, where there’s not a flake of snow in sight – although we may get a dusting of the white stuff later in the week. What a remarkable change for it to be you in the UK, rather than me, who is buried in the stuff!
A fun offering from Robyn this week. I started off at a one star pace but a few at the end held me up due to the need to brush up on a few things British. Thus I expect many may find it easier than my rating.
In the hints below, underlining identifies precise definitions and cryptic definitions, FODDER is capitalized, and indicators are italicized. The answers will be revealed by clicking on the ANSWER buttons.

Robyn on Toughie duty today and I found it quite tricky last night, but on reflection, I can’t quite see why. Apart from a sure-fire candidate for (THE LIST™ Terence) 13d remains unhinted as it is a partial anagram with plenty of checkers, but a French term for Scottish Dances I ask you! I would bet that not many of you leapt to the answer without the checkers
Plenty of Greeks, Romans, Shakespeare and golf along with a couple of boats. We have 14a and 16d clues and I have hinted half. I hope you get enough checkers to find the rest
16d gets my COTD by a nose from a close field what did you like?

This week I asked ChatGPT, “Why would a crossword setter choose to call themselves Jaques?”
A very good Sunday morning from Winnipeg where I nearly missed the fact that we are now in the seventh year of Dada on a Sunday – doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun!… Continue reading
