Time for OysteRs?

Bufo is away today. This morning I took our German guests on a tour around the Morgan factory, which lasted longer than I expected.
We used to complain when MynoT was working his way through the alphabet, but at least that added some interest to his puzzles.

I thought this MynoT Toughie was a bit dull, but maybe it’s just me.

A nice puzzle which wasn’t all that difficult. I was held up for a while after entering the wrong answer at 16 down and it wasn’t until I discovered MynoT’s underwear fixation that I changed it. I did think of adding a few pictures to the report but thought better of it.

Please let this not be the start of yet another series!

MynoT has left his alphabet-themed crosswords behind him – or has he? In this one all but one of the answers contain a particular vowel and the one that doesn’t sort of indicates the fact.

Zzzzz! Is this the end?

The first thing to do was to discover whether MynoT was still on his alphabet mission and, if so, which letter was the featured one. The first two clues I solved both had an M and an H; the third one had an H but not an M. So was it to be H? The answer was soon found to be ‘No’. It turned out that MynoT was killing five birds with one stone and that all the answers contained one (or more) of V, W, X, Y or Z. Does this mean that this tedious series is now at an end? Let’s hope so.

On MynoT’s last outing CrypticSue commented “apart from wanting to see how MynoT would get on trying to put a Q in every solution, I do wish he could abandon the alphabeticals and give us an ‘ordinary’ Toughie”. Well the first part of her wish has been more-or-less satisfied; we’ll have to wait and see for the second. I say more-or-less satisfied because the wished-for letter appears in all the across answers but in only some of the downs. Even more than with previous letters (because of the following U) the theme does make the puzzle very predictable and I was glad that it didn’t take long. There are an awful lot of clues where you have to insert, add or delete a single character. What do you think?

Return of the Grockle!

Back in February Gazza posed the question “What Happened to Grockle, Heckle and Jekyll?” when MynoT skipped a few consonants. Well here’s the answer – the grockle was on holiday. Another yawn of a puzzle – knowing that there is a particular consonant in every answer takes most of the fun away from solving.

Mynot’s tour of the consonants takes a few steps back to pick up a letter that I thought, or was that hoped, had been missed from this boring sequence. Once you have identified the theme letter (after just two clues in my case) the puzzle becomes very easy to solve.

Downhill all the way?

MynoT continues to work his way through the alphabet. At least he’s now got past halfway and so it will be downhill from now on. But, to be fair, this was a reasonable puzzle of average difficulty.

MynoT continues to work his way through the alphabet in this puzzle and has now reached the letter L. It was a fairly gentle solve with the four 13-letter anagrams and the presence of the L’s adding to the gentleness.
