Congratulations to Pegasus who is the winner of the May Monthly Prize Puzzle. Solvers had to identify the actor who was stepping down – a reference to the fact that his name appears in one of the left to right downwards diagonals of the crossword – see the solution below if you could not find the answer.
This was one of Gazza’s tougher crosswords as befits the Monthly Prize Puzzle but still full of fun and inuendo. I hope that I have done justice to the wordplay in the solutions that follow.

Welcome to the review of December’s Prize Puzzle set by Gazza. The person whose name was drawn from the electronic hat as this month’s winner was Claire Peat. Congratulations to her. There will be a new monthly prize puzzle in the New Year.
This month, solver’s had to identify the Olympic event identified in the grid (in blue below) and provide the missing event given the others identified in the grid (in red below). The missing event was shooting.
Many thanks to Gazza for an enjoyable crossword. As the Christmas season approaches may I wish you all a very joyful and peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year.

Our fourth Monthly Prize Crossword was set by Gazza. Solvers were asked to identify the name of the Captain who led four characters who graced the grid. The solution is at the bottom of this review.
Without further ado, this month’s winner is Kath. Congratulations to her. Not only does she get to choose two crossword books published by our sponsor but also can elect to be known from henceforth as Mrs Slocombe or Ms Brahms when blogging. To those who were unlucky this time, the next prize crossword will appear on Saturday 6 October.
