Welcome to the Toughie week. Excalibur’s latest puzzle felt tough for a Tuesday, and while it certainly wasn’t dull, I did think one or two of the clues were the wrong sort of difficult. Still, I look forward to her next one.

Four mini-puzzles from Warbler today which I worked round clockwise, finding the first (NW) a write-in and the second (NE) decidedly the hardest.

A decent first Toughie of the week from Samuel, if perhaps not his most entertaining.

Excalibur at her shimmering best today! I solved the four interlocking clues in the middle then did the four resulting mini-puzzles in order, anticlockwise from the SE, enjoying it all the way.

Those pesky warblers! After blogging from east Norfolk last Tuesday I tried and failed to catch up with a Pallas’s Warbler that had been spotted in coastal woodland. Today it was 8d that eluded me. I thought I was going to tear through this puzzle but slowed down a lot in the lower half. All very enjoyable though.

Greetings all from sunny Rutland. I struggled with this puzzle without really knowing why.

A fairly middle-of-the-road sort of Tuesday puzzle with one or two lighthearted touches.

How on earth I failed to guess this was a Giovanni I do not know! Perhaps I was too busy enjoying some very deft cluemanship to notice the Judaeo-Christian references piling up. Quite challenging for a Tuesday puzzle too, I thought, or was it just that failing to spot that there was an anagram in one corner held me up. Let's hear what you think.
