The sun is shining here in the Loire and I have really enjoyed doing this Rufus crossword. It seemed slightly trickier than usual, but there are some excellent and entertaining clues which provided more than a few "of course" moments.

First of all I would like to thank everybody for their birthday wishes last Saturday as I hit my 50th. Then secondly I would like to thank Gazza for stepping into the Monday spot at short notice (I had a sick cat to pick up from the vets). That left me with the opportunity of blogging a Friday Giovanni. I don't know about the rest of you but this seemed to be a tough one and took longer than normal. Just in case you missed it, it is also a pangram.

Normal service has been resumed. Mrs. L. is well on the mend, so many thanks for all of your kind comments. I struggled a bit with a few of the clues, although I suspect a certain rustiness on my part. I finally decided to give this three stars for difficulty mainly because although its easy to guess the answer to 5d, I had no idea why the answer was what it was until Gazza enlightened me.
