in conjunction with the Times Crossword Championship

What? A Cruciverbalist Convention for crossword setters and blog contributors and readers will take place in London, coinciding with the annual Times Crossword Championship.
   
When? 11:00 am onwards on Saturday 7th December 2019
   
Where? London – meeting at the The George, Borough High Street, Southwark, SE1 1NH
The George, Borough High Street, Southwark, SE1 1NH
   
And later? Anyone still standing will be heading towards a nearby restaurant
   
Who? Anyone who is interested
   
Why? It is hoped that a number of the Times setters and several of the Telegraph, Guardian, Independent and FT setters will put in an appearance.  There should also be a cross-section of bloggers and readers from this site, Times for the Times and Fifteensquared.  This is your chance to meet us!
   
How? Just turn up on the day.
   
  If you’ve never been before, these are very friendly functions and you have the opportunity to meet other like-minded people.

  1. Sorry, but I won’t be there – visiting London is a terrifying experience for me and a waste of money which I can ill afford

  2. I’m with you Roy. I wouldn’t quite put London at the level of ‘terrifying’, but would class it as ‘deeply unpleasant’.

    Perhaps when HS2 is built, they might consider meeting somewhere outside the M25. We have pubs and restaurants out here too, you know!

    1. For a while the Championships were held in Cheltenham, in conjunction with the Literary Festival. Apparently it became too expensive so they are now held at the Times offices in London.

  3. Ah The George! Frequented it quite a bit when I was a student up the road. A pity I cannot make it because I would have loved to revisit.

  4. I would love to be there, but sadly it clashes with a rugby commitment at my local club.
    I will definitely be there for the gathering in May.
