It was 40 Years Ago Today!

For those who are not aware, our very own King of the Toughie, John Henderson, aka Elgar, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his first Guardian puzzle today. he was 15 at the time! There is a special(ish) puzzle here:

There have been tributes on a couple of the classical music radio stations and he was given the Freedom of Classic FM this morning at 7:45am (there should be another between 9am and 10am on Scala Radio!)

Happy Ruby Anniversary and here’s to another 40 years!

There was a lunch for a small group of invited devotees this afternoon and here they are !

  1. Well done,John (Elgar, Enigmatist, etc)…It’s 45 years this month, since the publication of my first Listener puzzle in March 1974: so I know how it feels to be one of the “old guard”!
