  1. My thanks to Big Dave for putting this up. Brian was on a rare visit which happened to coincide with a visit from my old Bristol colleague Richard. Only when we were together did it occur to us that our Telegraph days were successive. Shortly after this picture was taken, we adjourned to The Plough at Wolvercote, where I can heartily recommend the Rocking Rudolph.

    • … and all three of you have set Toughies, as Giovanni, Messinae and Jed respectively, although Brian stopped when he took over the Sunday slot in April 2009.

    • Happy new year all three, as I continue to marvel at the originality and wit that you bring to setting crosswords.

    • Thank you for the photo and opportunity to see who the names are.
Very happy New Year and great thanks for all the efforts that you, and Big Dave, and the dedicated bloggers, go to on our behalf. As you know it is much appreciated, verging on the essential. I hope Giovanni is not going to retire anytime soon. Happy 2018 to all.

  2. I keep thinking that there must be an alternative caption for the photo but, so far, it’s eluding me!
Thank you for sending this in, gentlemen, it’s always nice to be able to put faces to names and I don’t think I have seen a shot of Mr Palmer before today.

  3. Happy New Year to you, and thank you for the hours of entertainment you’ve given us in the past.

  4. Happy New Year to you all and thanks for all the head scratching no wonder there’s no hair left. Keep up the good work in 2018 it’s hugely appreciated.

  5. For some reason I have missed this post before now, but couldn’t pass up the chance to say very many thanks to you all for hours and hours of fun.

Happy New Year and long may you continue
