This was my first chance to blog a Stick Insect Toughie since I was on my travels when his last puzzle appeared on a Thursday. I echo the comments that Deep Threat made on that occasion when he echoed the comments made by Gazza when he blogged the first one.… Continue reading >

Morning all from a rather dank and dismal Vega Baja.  Winter has certainly arrived at last.  I haven’t a clue who today’s setter is as the style doesn’t ring any bells at all.  There’s four longish anagrams to give you a way in, a couple of rather complicated charades and three cryptic definitions.  While solving I thought it was a bit tricky but looking at the website’s timer it’s a solid ** puzzle.  Perhaps I was just lucky in unravelling the anagrams fairly quickly.   Continue reading “DT 28598”

Kia ora from Aotearoa.

We seem to have mentioned weather quite a lot lately but it really is quite phenomenal. After a very wet winter it has now become extremely dry with temperatures that we do not usually see until much later in the summer.… Continue reading >

Hello and welcome to a Toughie Tuesday which I found tough.

I’ve taken to trying to avoid seeing the setter names in advance, partly so I can enjoy the game of guess who, but also to try to avoid or spot any biases. … Continue reading >

Hello, everyone.  I appreciated how this puzzle offered some straightforward clues to provide a foothold from which to tackle other clues featuring more complex constructions hiding behind smooth surface readings.  The solve was most definitely good fun.… Continue reading >
