Was it just me who was on song this morning or did others find this puzzle to be absurdly easy? It was a complete read-and-write for me except for the last two answers (4 across and 8 down) which needed a few seconds thought.… Continue reading

Good morning everyone. It’s another beautiful morning in Oxford and it’s a Ray T Thursday – what more could we ask for? This crossword has almost all of his trademarks apart from the Queen who seems to be otherwise occupied today.… Continue reading

It’s all coming back to me

BD Rating – Difficulty ***Enjoyment ****

I’d have recognised this as an Osmosis production even if I hadn’t known the setter. It’s chock-full of his usual complicated wordplay including lots of reversals. I’m not complaining – I enjoy deciphering such clues but it’s quite tricky trying to write unambiguous hints without the use of nested brackets.… Continue reading

Less than a week now before we leave for our brief visit to where most of you live. All very exciting and one of the highlights will be meeting at least some of you at The George on 19th May.
This will be the last regular Wednesday blog we will be doing for a few weeks although we hope that we will not be totally out of touch.
Good stuff from Jay once again today. The NE corner was once more the trickiest one for us.

A warm welcome from all of us to Samuel on his first Telegraph Toughie appearance. I thought this was a decent if typically gentle Tuesday offering until I realised I had printed out and solved the back-pager by mistake! The real thing was much more in the Toughie vein and full of strong clues that I really enjoyed.

This shouldn’t be too strenuous or stressful – do let us know what you made of it and how you got on. If you’re a long-term, or even short-term, lurker and haven’t yet plucked up the courage to introduce yourself, today would be an excellent day to take the bull by the horns and make a comment – on the whole we’re a pretty friendly lot and we won’t bite.… Continue reading
