“Beware, all who enter here!” Big Dave did warn me that this one somehow found its way onto the back page, but really belongs in Toughie Territory.  Have a go – with lateral thinking, and generous helpings of perservation, it is solvable.  I found the “Downs” marginally easier, so you might try that approach. Happy solving! Continue reading “DT 26928”

Lots of grumpiness from the usual suspects when this one appeared on Sunday 15th July but I found it fairly straightforward and a splendid way to start a busy Sunday when for once it wasn’t raining.

It was not until I finished writing the hints for this one that I realised there are no anagrams at all (I think that this is the second such puzzle from Beam/Ray T that I’ve reviewed). This is an enjoyable puzzle with a good sprinkling of laughs, but I am surprised at 17d which is not listed in Chambers.
We’d appreciate a comment from you and please record your assessment of the puzzle by clicking on one of the stars below.

Hola from the Vega Baja.  Another fine crossword from the Wednesday Wizard. There’s a few anagrams to get you going and some clever clues as well.  Not too difficult but I really enjoyed it. How about you?

The setter of this puzzle was originally announced on Telegraph Puzzles as Notabilis, but there was no doubt that it was actually by Micawber, just as it said in the newspaper (the website has now been corrected). A very enjoyable puzzle with several of those “penny-drop” moments.

Tuesdays, more than any other day, are ‘pot luck’ days. This puzzle is a pangram so that may point to the setter being Shamus (or I may be totally wrong). In any case I quite enjoyed it – how about you?
If you want to see an answer just slide your cursor through the space between the curly brackets under the clue.

I don’t know why but this was a game of two halves for me today, most of the crossword went in pretty quickly, as it usually does on a Monday, but then I ground to a halt and struggled to finish.

Our second Monthly Prize Crossword was set by Alchemi (who also set yesterday’s Not The Saturday Prize Puzzle, which is well worth solving). Solvers were asked to identify the theme of the crossword and to supply the missing member of the group so revealed.

Without further ado, this month’s winner is Alex McKinlay (Axe). Congratulations to him. To those who were unlucky this time, the next prize crossword will appear on Saturday 4 August.
