Today we had a meeting at the Lass O’Gowrie pub in Manchester. This was arranged at very short notice, but we still had a dozen turn up.
Left to right: Dave (Tilsit), Peter (Kathryn’s Dad), Eileen, Pete (Radler), Dennis, Neil (Tramp), Sarah (Arachne), Nick, Dean (Anax/Elkamere), Big Dave, Geoff (Gervase), Jim (Tyrus)
Looks like a very pleasent afternoon. Pommette’s a bit miffed to have missed it by such a small margin!
I remember the Lass O’Gowrie, I think – isn’t that the the pub on the road from Oxford Steet into the ex-UMIST Campus? Seem to remember it from years gone by! When I was at UMIST as an undergraduate it was a bit of a spit-and-sawdust but very good ale I seem to remember..
Hope you all had a good time
It’s coming back to me! It was near there that we put up a sign, because of fast moving traffic, It said:-
Don’t kill a student – wait for a lecturer!
P.S. Apparently the boss (vice- chancellor) thought it funny so it stayed there for 2 years until the weather took its toll
Can you help me please? I was given a Guardian crossword book for Christmas and I just can’t make any sense of a Rufus clue.
The clue: In which three couples get together for sex.
Answer: LATIN ????
I am pretty good at surface reading but this one just makes no sense to me.
3 x 2 (a couple) = 6, sex in Latin
I think this was a Brendan clue.
