….. who must have put up with an awful lot since the day Dave announced that he was “just going to get involved in a little blog helping people solve the Daily and Sunday Telegraph Cryptic Crosswords” !!

    I talk occasionally (incecssantly) about this ‘blog and people are astonished when I start quoting stats like these. A grand testament to yourself.

However I do drop-in most days to check the odd clue and see what my fellow crossword lovers think of the days offering! I dabbled with the DT crossword off and on for a few years but it was only when I discovered this site (and learned the tricks of the trade!) that I got addicted! So many thanks Dave (and all your helpers) and keep up the good work!

  10. Congratulations! I was delighted to find this blog when l became a fan of the Saturday DT Cryptic and pop in whenever l can. My enthusiasm for crosswords and not simply solving them but understanding the clues and decoding them has grown so much since l discovered it. Thank you all for making it what it is and especially to BD for creating it in the first place

  11. I would just like to add my thanks for such a brilliant website. The exchange of thoughts, ideas & hints in such a polite manner makes it refreshingly different from other blogs which seem to have as their main contributors foul mouthed Neanderthals.

I’ve been tackling the DT for 35 years and since stumbling upon this site my knowledge and understanding have increased amazingly, wonder what I was doing for the first 33.5 years :-) Thank you very much and keep up the good work

  15. Having read all the comments above, I second every one. This site has really helped my solving skills and increased my enthusiasm for puzzles. But more than that, it has created a community – we don’t know each other but we learn little things about each other’s and the rest we fill in with our imagination. Thank you Big Dave for bringing all over us together and for letting us chat for a few minutes every day with one another and of course, for letting us share our enthusiasm for the Telegraph crossword. three cheers for Big Dave!
