Sloggers and Betters Prize Puzzle

At the recent Sloggers & Betters meeting in Birmingham, Anax handed out a puzzle for the attendees to solve. The original prize of a bottle of wine was supplemented by Rufus’s kind donation of a copy of a book of his Guardian crosswords and a very rare copy of Torquemada’s 112 Best Crossword Puzzles with Portrait & Memoirs, published in 1942.
